How to report content that infringes your copyright.

The photographs, captions and comments on The Beer App are uploaded by the people who use it. the operator of The Beer App does not review them before they appear. If something here infringes your copyright, tell us and we will act on it.

Reporting an infringement

Send a notice to support@thebeerapp.app with the subject line Copyright notice. To be actionable it needs:

• Your physical or electronic signature.
• Identification of the work you say has been infringed.
• Identification of the material you want removed, and enough detail for us to find it — a link to the post, or the username and approximate date.
• Your address, telephone number and email address.
• A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.

We act on complete notices expeditiously, which in practice means the same day we read them.

Designated agent

Notices should be addressed to the designated agent of the operator of The Beer App at support@thebeerapp.app.

Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. It needs your signature, identification of the material and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake, and your name, address and telephone number together with your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found).

Where the law allows, we may restore the material after a waiting period unless the original complainant tells us they have filed a court action.

Repeat infringers

Every post or comment we remove on a valid copyright complaint is a strike against the account that posted it, and the person is told why and how to send a counter-notice. The third strike closes the account. This is not discretionary and we do not require a court order to act on it. A strike is withdrawn if the content is put back after a successful counter-notice.

If you use The Beer App yourself, you can also flag a stolen photo with Report → Stolen photo or copyright in the app. That gets it reviewed; a notice as described above is what we are legally required to act on.

Bad-faith notices

Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing carries liability under the law. We keep notices and counter-notices, and we may pass them to the person whose content is affected.

Trade marks and other complaints

For a trade-mark complaint, or anything else you believe infringes a right you hold, write to support@thebeerapp.app with the same level of detail.

Reporting something that is not a copyright issue

Harassment, impersonation, or anything that breaks our Community Guidelines is best reported with the report control inside the app — it reaches moderation directly, with the post attached, which email cannot do.
